  • Crawfish cooking rigs

What's everyone using to boil crawfish? Mainly what kind of burner everyone is using.

Most just use a turkey fryer setup.

Bought a new 80 qt pot/strainer and a Bayou Classic jet burner. Gonna break it in this weekend. This burner is supposed to be good for 185k BTU. Hopefully that will get things boiling quickly.

It really is some hillbilly homemade shit, but works well.

Will probably have it out tomorrow, I'll try to get someone to grab some pics, the lens on mine is crack or has a bad scratch on it, screws up the pics.

I had some ordered for the holiday weekend, went to pick them up Friday and got a bunch of excuses, was told the flood coming down the Mississippi River fucked up the current crop and they couldn't meet the orders placed. None of the local places had any. They have went from $1.49 a pound ten days ago to $3.99 a pound today. Fuck that.

getting close to the end of season also.

They never got lower than $4 a pound cooked this year in south arkansas. Last year they were $2.75 all of may/part of june.

I know I usually eat them once a week and this year I've averaged maybe three times a month, along with only doing one get together type boil. Cheapest uncooked I purchased were $2.50.
