  • Sword sharpening in DFW?

I have a cheapy Samurai sword I need sharpened.

I would like to get it sharpened and talk to someone about the limitations of the blade.

Any suggestions? I have a grinder and regular knife sharpeners.

I cannot believe the photographer put his name on this photo.
"When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin
"A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury." -Alexander Fraser Tytler

                    LOL! Well played.

I learned some basic sword fighting techniques when I studied martial arts. I have it laying around, so it should be sharp.

I'm trying to edumacate myself on the steels used and their limitations.

I have 2 boys and it is a duty of mine to teach them these things.

To teach them sword fighting? You would be doing them a disservice.

Unless you are teaching them fencing, cease and desist.

Who made the blade? Do you know what the blade makeup is?

If its a cheapybsword, its not anything you would want to use for any cutting kata. I have two katanas from Bugei and are both live blades designed for cutting techniques. The cheapest one was 1500, and i wont use it on anything more than bamboo or staw bundles. The other one was stupid expensive, almost to the point of being afraid to practice with it.

You probably have a display sword that is about as useful as a solar alarm clock.

Edit: just saw the above post.

                            PUT THE fUCKING SWORD DOWN.

Go buy some decent or basic bokken and let them practice that way. Not with a cheap live blade that'll break on first use.

Jesus christ, use some common sense!
