  • Done with the .308

Nothing fancy but I'm done with my 308 bushmaster o.r.c.

It's shooting groups quarter sized at 200 yards.

    Bushnell 4-16x40 scope
    Magpul ACS stock
    Magpul foregrip
    Magpul foward angled handle
    Magpul 20 round mags
    Magpul MAID grip
    Viking Light holder
Stream light 200 lumen tac light

Everything was lose from the factory..Stock and fore grip were loose..Now everything is very tight.

Internals are still stock but I'm pleased with how they are running.

Looking into buying the woman a .223 now and also a mossberg 22lr for plinking fun and start working on that.

nice ! that is an incredible grouping at 200yards.
What were you shooting ammo wise?

I got this gun last week on here from a member: (my range review)

    DPMS AR-10 model sportical / LR-308 , 16" barrel
purchased used for $850, supposedly 400 rds through it
    mounted a Sightron big sky 2 4-12 x 42mm scope on it , aluminum rings (approx $350)
weighs 9.75 pounds with empty mag
zero'd scope fine, not a single malfunction in ~100 rounds

Silver bear, cheap steel cased ammo, 140g , russian made soft point with some what flat tip . shot into about <3MOA at 100yards

Winchester power point. softpoint for thinskinned game , 150g , quality hunting ammo , shot into 1.2" or almost 1 MOA

100yrds, probably not the best shooting I could do.
many ppl had dpms LR-308 that shot better than 1" using match ammo, so im pretty impressed so far.
Not bad for a semi -auto at all. I'll try some heavier 168g match ammo next time, and smooth the trigger sear (needs it badly). I think that will put me in under 1" if i do my part.
It's a 1-10 twist barrel so heavier should do better still.
AR-10's really are sweet shooting machines, just not light for walking hunting .
The factory trigger is horrible too... that was very annoying...i can fix that grittiness though. A long pull doesn't bother me as long as it isn't so perceptible.
No problems getting a good cheek weld on the stock . I guess because the scope happened to mount very low .

Why a Mossberg .22 instead of something like, oh, a 10/22?

          .
That was with federal and remmington 150g ammo. Everyone says go with 160+g but I'm having great results with the 150. It's dropped both hogs I've shot so far dead in their tracks and those big 200+ lb boars are notorious for taking bulleta and running off.

I'm looking at a mossberg 22lr just because the price point and the look. I can get one for about 200 bucks with my discount and I like the AR look.

If you want a .22 AR that isn't an AR, don't bother with a mossberg. I'd get a Ruger SR-22 if that were the goal. The Mossbergs are cheap for a reason.
