My outdoor faucets come out of my exterior brick wall.

I just put one of those 79-99 cent foam covers on the front and back outside faucets. Just a little insurance, even though the water does not make it that far when the faucet is off.

Oh yea, I forgot to tell the ol lady to do that this weekend. When she gets home from her second job tonight, I know what she'll be doing

Had mine on a week ago. $1 per faucet...one less thing to worry about.

Just one of those things that happens every year. Texas is not immune the to the laws of thermodynamics. I've had the foam covers on for several weeks at least.

Apartments get busted pipes all the damn time (ever see the freeze warning signs?) and so do houses. No sympathy for people who don't even bother to take the littlest step towards keeping things operational.

I put the foam insulators over my spigots as soon as I seen temperatures in the forecast below freezing.
