Looks good man. Why didn't you just use a flaming river manual rack? Was the price for the mustang II that much cheaper? That actually looks like a FR rack, I'm just trying to figure out why you went with the mustang II rack? Learn me please...

BlueCoupeRedVert
03-07-2012, 07:41 PM
way cheaper! $90 to my door. Still have a ton of new part to buy, have to fit them all into the budget. its a nice rack. M2 racks have a 16" center to center mount. Fox mount is 15.5" center to center. Got it on eBay. Like most of my new shit. lol

Please tell me that it at least isn't a FR rack for 90 bucks. This is what the FR one looks like btw, if yours isn't it's pretty damn close.

Thanks! It took a lot of cleaning before I could paint. When I am finished, you will only see one small wire harness for the engine/injectors inside the bay.

Its the same size as my power rack that I pulled. Only difference is the mounting space. You can order the M2 rack in custom shorter lengths.

Nice work Doug....

I ended up sending my whole tranny out to get done. The parts were $909 for what he did and he is assembling everything, cleaning all cases, and reassembling for $150 more...

I think it is well worth it in the end. I should have it back on March 30th!

Misc things,
Lakewood 90/10s & 50/50. I guess I can say used. Slapped them on the 4 pot mustang before i pulled the motor. So they just have use from driving up and down the shop.
Moroso Drag springs new for the front, and last Is single adjustable upper control arms (not sure of brand)

Will do. I could not find any info on the net or from either companies websites stating not to. I will call tomorrow. I can't see why it would not work. Its very well made with sealed bearings on the shafts.

Spoke with both companies. They said its no different than using a carb in a blow thru app. Said one hole one blade is best. I like it so its staying. Lol I say if the turbo carb guys can make a shit ton of hp, I will be fine.

while i like the way that fuel pressure gauge looks (symmetry wise), wouldn't it make more sense to put a 90* fitting on it and bring it out to one side or the other since once you get the hat on that throttle body you won't be able to read the gauge at all?

That's what I plan on doing. I get my hat this week. Then I will play with it. I even thought about putting a gauge facing each side of the engine. Lol. Or just a smaller gauge. But the one on it now is only temp. Works fine but the needle is bent.

Just run a short piece of braided line up to the cowl and put it where you can see it while driving.

The "cowl" is the space between the end of the hood and the bottom of the windshield. I am think about getting one of those molded cowl vents that houses two gauges.

If you can put some sort of a rubber gasket between the pump and the frame to minimize the noise. I would also suggest a Aeromotive or Weldon speed controller make sure to run a good feed 10ga.

BlueCoupeRedVert

Yes, I am using the factory fuel pump power wire to trigger the 30amp relay. The battery is in the trunk
too, so there is a short lead from that to a 30amp circuit breaker to the relay then to the pump, all 8gaugeto power wire with same 8gaugefor used as a ground.

Interesting. Did you switch yours to full speed while at the track? I assume you would have. What pump? What version of the controller was it? Aeromotive made some changes to the old red version. I ask cause I have one planned to go in. Already bought and paid for.

mine was the older version.

i had mine set with 2 activation methods, rpm and boost (via a hobbs switch to the manual switch). it'd kick the pump to full speed over 4k rpm or over 1psi.

personally if you have the hobbs switch activating at over 1psi there really is no purpose for the rpm switch, but i guess it's a little safety net.

I have always wondered this. Hence my new dash work and car total rewire I am gonna have a temp sender put in the tank. Fabricated aluminum is just too easy to modify......or to have Brooks drill a hole and weld in a 1/8"npt at least.

Lol, didn't fall off the face of the earth. Just been working a lot and lurking.

I bought the green '86 GT back that I previously owned.

But I can still always run the old junky 4 door '55 Chevy down the track.

In the process of rebuilding the rear end. Adding Moser 31spline fox length sn95 hub 5 lug axles with 3" studs. Also a T/A style housing girdle. I will be using an Explorer diff rebuilt with carbon fiber clutches.

Some minor stuff. Fixed my drivers seat seat rail. It was almost split in half, causing clasic foxbody seat lean.. Lol. Good and strong now.
