Pillar mounting

So I just bought a Howa M-1500 barreled reciever and a Blackhawk stock. Is it worth it to get it pillar mounted and the rest of the reciever bedded?

Can you shoot it first? If it doesn't cost extra after the fact, I'd try it out the way it is before you mess with it.
