Gmail spam issues

OK so in my expirience, Gmail has always had a really good spam filter but lately I have been getting spam emails and the sender is "false". WTF is that? I dont open them and always send them straight to the spam folder but they keep getting back through. I notice in the preview pane each one is a link to a site with no text.

Is this happening to anyone else?

I've been getting a bunch of SPAM mails that are just gibberish. Somebody's sleeping on the job over at google.
