Are their any websites or forums that have updates about when companies change their plans? I haven't been satisfied with Verizon's service where I live and a free out of the contract would be nicer than waiting for 8 more months.

You can always try calling and bitching, that seems to work best from my experiences with verizon. I think sprint offered early contract releases a year or two ago, can't remember the specifics.

You may search consumerist.com or lifehacker.com for ways to get out of your contract. They tend to have helpful hints for that type of thing atleast twice a year. You may even find an "out" that is Verizon specific.
