looking to get a ballpark price for some. I'm on a corner lot and the lawn on the side of the house has a pretty bad slope to it that makes it really hard for grass to grow due to runoff. it gets worse every year. plans are to build a nice retaining wall and fill in the void with new soil.

Look for someone doing construction near you, stop by and ask if they are hauling off dirt. They want to get rid of it as cheaply as possible so if you're close they haul it to you for free. Make sure it is clean (free of rocks and trash) and look for top soil, it should be black.

Just make sure they know how many loads you want or you'll end up having a mountain.
