    I am attempting to compete in NASA time trials, TTB class, with a miata, it doesn't look too good but I gave it all I had this past weekend, the E46 M3 dominates this class. TWS with it's high speed front straight really puts my 196whp car at a disadvantage against the E46, hopefully my results from Hallett will be a bit better. I was ~1.5 sec behind the leader at TWS.
    Here is a video in traffic behind a TT2 vette, you can see the E46 TTB M3 in front of the vette, he pulls bus lengths on me on the front straight.

    Here is a video of my fastest lap, I burned the exit of the carousel and it cost me ~.5 sec





    On Friday I worked pit crew for a Wolf GB08, the Wolf team competed in the enduro and they needed help with the refueling and tire changes, very cool and fast car, Eric Foss (Grand Am Driver) drove the car in the enduro and ran a 1:38:xx, later in the weekend he ran a 1:37:04 which appears to be the CW record for TWS.

      Very cool. I bet Hallett will be better for your car as long as you can get familiar with the track. Is TWS faster in the other direction and what kind of tire are you limited to run?

        I hear TWS is ~1 sec faster CCW, I am/was running Hoosier A6's$$$$$$

        The tire you choose to run costs you points, example, X car is class TTC, you take +13 for tires(A6), +10 for suspension, 20 points bumps you a class, so you are at +23, which would put you in TTB.

            Shit, didn't realize that was you in the Miata. I was there Thursday-Sunday with the MDG crew messing with the Spec Miatas. Are you going to NOLA this weekend?

                And you didn't come by to say hi?! I was in the pink Camaro trying to figure out how to race a 3300lb car against a 1500lb open wheel roadster! LOL!


                Mach1, CW is about 1.2 to 2 seconds faster than CCW if you know what you are doing.

                I was dealing with melting rear tires all weekend and the little 1500# fucker knew it. He mostly waited for the end of the race and then piled the car in under braking and got me. Not much I could do but felt I put up a good fight. I could put an 1/8th mile on him in the straight only to have him on my bumper by the exit of T13 just 3 turns later. Frustrating but finally ran the fastest lap ever ran in the wife's car with a 1:52.02 which backs up the 1:54.4 CCW. It needs more rear tire and a better panhard or watts link to get the rear to work. I was driving the car sideways way too much. with the rear hooked up better it's got another 2 seconds in it I think considering I've run the same times in the Mustang with 100rwhp less....and 300# less!

                As for competing in TTB...just work the points system and keep getting seat time. You should do better at hallett as HP is NOT the key there. Just mechanical grip, brakes and big hairy balls of steel.

                        Was that roadster driver an ex cart driver? I was putting a hurt on him back at MSRH at the beginning of the year, looks like he got a bit faster.

                          Yeah. He is learning the tracks and is using about 1/3 of the surface. His car has 2-3 seconds in it once he finishes it and learns the tracks.
