color matching a color I have no idea what it is

Not original paint so paint code won't help.

Can a close match be done? I want to get a new front and rear bumper put on along with a trunk lid but have no idea what color red my car is.

Shouldn't be a problem at all unless there is a lot of sun fading. Just take it to any place that mixes automotive paint.

Have a paint company bring out their prophet camera and take a picture of a panel. They load that up and the computer will find a formula that comes the closest to matching. Sometimes it is dead on, sometimes its close, but not perfect.

If you can find a DuPont store, their's used to be the best.

Dupont and PPG are the most familiar to me and they both seem to be the same to me.
