  • Took the race car out for some shakedown passes

It has been a long time since the unfortunate incedent at Ennis a while back. After getting the car fixed we put the motor back in with some new cams. Our new cams were pulling hard all the way to 8,500rpm and making over 150rwhp at 8krpms. The car was making way more power!
However we found a weak link in our setup, we cracked the block. A stock 4.6 aluminum block, then another, & another. I had never had a problem with a block before.
So we decided to go to a cast block, then figured if we were going cast block. We should just go 5.4. So we went to a 5.4 cast block, billet crank (that took 20 weeks to get), Ford GT heads, custom valvetrain, the same custom cams, ford gt lower intake (that we modified for single injector), stock ford GT intercooler, with a custom sheetmetal rear facing hat that we built.
We got it fired up mid last week! It sounded good so we put her on the dyno. At 13psi it made 900rw thru the powerglide with the 88mm turbo. Then at 21psi it made 1,140rw. We were satisfied since that is the same power it was making with the 91mm when it went in the 7's.
It made 3 passes, all 3 were very smooth and straight. It went an 8.2 and a 8.3@170. It was off by 5-6mph in the 1/8 and 9-11mph off in the 1/4. After reviewing datalogs it appears we have way to much back pressure. The new motor has a lot more stroke then the old motor. It spools the turbo instantly, then chokes up after 7krpms.
So easy fix, we need a bigger A/R.
We plan on running in Texas true ten 5, oklahoma true ten 5, NMRA drag radial, and any local drag radial or true ten 5 events. We will probably always run it with the 88mm.
    Video's & pics coming soon!

Those passes were with the GT4788. It is now for sale. It's on Ebay. Looking to get $1500 for it. I also have a billet 94mm that is for sale.

It's good to see it back out on the track Manny!

Those are some 4 year old dry rotted drag radials! A good burn out brought them back to life and they seemed to do pretty good. We did change a few things in the suspension to get the wheelies under control and it appears to have worked.
