  • Walk to Emmaus

Anyone heard of this? or has attended one?
You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end!" and the first one says, "Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third one says "Well, I'm gonna finish the game." I shall finish the game, Doc.

I attended one about a year and a half ago. It was pretty neat. If you are going to go, don't be afraid of it being a "CULT" thing. Let me know if you have any questions about it.

My brother did his a few years ago. It was kind of cultish the way they tracked down friends and family and asked for us to write letters of congratulation. I thought it was the IRS looking for him again.

I'm not attending but i've been asked to write a letter. Just trying figure out what it's about. Like you said, it does have that cult feeling to it. And from what i gather its very secretive.

I wrote the letter and never heard anything else about it. Honestly I'm suprised my brother hasn't tried to talk to me about religion. Glad, but suprised. He's a much better person after going on his walk. I thought the church thing was a phase after his motorcycle wreck but he stuck with it, ever since the walk deal though he's been church first, everything else in life second. Which to me is even more cult like.

Before though it was getting high first, porn second, finding someone to argue with third, work fourth. It could just be that the church takes up 3 of the 4 steps now.

            Details? Never heard of it.

EDIT: So I looked it up and.....don't reply to my post please. Just another argument around the corner.

Yeah, I'm trying to let it die. Even though I still think it's a hilarious name, I'm not 18 anymore. It'll be my gamertag on xbox and that's it.

Back to the original subject...The "Walk to Emmaus" is just a Catholic tradition that Protestants have "tweaked" to fit their need. What's funny IMO is that if you ask a protestant about catholocism, they think it's stupid. That's my only beef with it. Nothing really to debate past that.
