Anybody know of any local places to get good seafood? Grocery stores suck in both the freshness and selection departments and central market is just ridiculously priced. Plan on making some ceviche sometime this weekend.

You can get fresh seafood from the Gulf at the Farmers Market in Downtown Dallas sometimes.

I've heard great things about Sea Breeze, never been though.

Couldn't find Sea Breeze, but it appears as if they were closed yesterday (along with everything else). Didn't think the whole "Jesus thing" was a big hit in this country anymore, with the exception of "give me stuff" day.

figure I'd bring it back up....

Was looking for a place local to Mckinney where I could get some jumbo shrimp? Not the Krogar/Albertson's kind. I think they're called "prauns" or something like that.

Central Market does a pretty good job with fresh seafood.

Captain Daves has some local stuff (Plano)

I personally wouldn't eat anything other than high quality salmon and other freshwater fish, or shellfish that far North of salt water.

Prawns in the food sense are just big shrimp for most.

Prawns and Shrimp are in the same family technically but differ by a few small things, like how they lay their eggs, and how they breathe.

Most of what you'll find for the public that's a prawn is probably a shrimp.

Up north, or in higher end specialty seafood markets they will classify their prawn and shrimp by name.

                    Cool

Was wanting to stuff them, wrap with bacon, and throw it on the grill. The "jumbo shrimp" you normally find in the main stores are just not big enough for that. I know they don't have that fresh taste, but better than not eating any at all..lol I forgot all about Central Market. I'll try them and then Captain's Dave.

                    thanks

Trulucks used to be one of my favorite places. I went a few months ago, and it was terrinle, in fact I probably won't go back.

Asian markets have a good selection, the one at Legacy & 75 has a lot.

Is Sprouts a good place to get seafood? I've never shopped there, but last week's ad had jumbo shrimp (14-16 ct., I believe) for like $3.99/lb. It's probably way too good to be true, but figured I'd ask.
