  • TSA Protects America by Groping My…Poodle

A case in point: I had my own experience with TSA groping while traveling late Saturday night. I was going through security at a major airport with my 5 lb. poodle, Mimi, who is a constant companion for me since I spend much of my travel and work time alone. For those who haven’t been through security with a carry-on-sized pet, the normal procedure is to take the pet out of their travel case and carry them through the metal detector, putting them back in after clearing security. I did just that, and no alarms were set off when we passed through. However, because Mimi was wearing a little dog sweater, she was singled out for “enhanced” screening. The TSA agent actually patted down my poodle, even though she is tiny. The agent said she got the pat down because she was wearing a sweater. No, I wasn’t stupid enough to point out that I was also wearing a sweater, and asking why I wasn’t being patted down. I kept my mouth shut and I let it go, cowed by my own rush to make my flight to go home for the holiday.

Nice! Was talking to my buddy about a different subject about the TSA (urine story) and he informed me he was going to be flying this week. Here were his thoughts and a story from him flying last week:

I went through the body scanner two weeks ago flying back from Minneapolis, and had to instruct one of the TSA personnel that he would not be touching my bag until I approved. It took me telling him, "Put my fucking bag back on the conveyor belt, NOW!" before one of the other TSA personnel took notice and instructed him to return my bag until I had completed the scanning process.

I'll be opting out of the scanner this time and forcing them to do the pat-down. I will also be reminding them that if they touch my junk, it's a misdemeanor if it's above the clothing but a felony if it's under. Of course, I will procrastinate and delay at every possible juncture, asking questions, getting my phone out to capture pictures and video, asking them to put that in writing, asking for a warrant, requesting an attorney, asking if they enjoy doing this to me as much as they do little boys and girls, asking if they practice on each other or dolls or both, and other general acts of being a complete asshole.

By the way, how much money would you be able to get together to post my bail on Thursday?

I told him I'd wait to see him on the news, but I do want pics and video.

I can see long lines at the check points with LOTS of people with their camera phones out just waiting for something to happen. These next few days through Thanksgiving will be interesting.
