Printer recommendations?

My Canon i550 print head is starting to crap out. I've cleaned it 3 times now and still getting the same smudge. After 6 years, it's probably time to move on instead of repair.

So, recommendations? My criteria are:
- printing documents
- print pictures up to 8x10
- scanner would be nice

I'm a fan of Canon, but willing to hear other good printers.

IMHO, HP makes the best prints, but as I'm sure you know, the ink on consumer grade units generally cost's more then the printer itself. I know several people that have switched to Kodak printers from HP and couldn't be happier but I have no personal experience w/ them.

I replaced a Cannon w/ an HP Photosmart D5460 that's nothing but awesome except for the $120 ink refills and driver "support" for Win7. The native driver won't allow it to print on CD's/DVD's so you have to use a different driver to use that feature. This is only on 7, mind you.
