  • iMAC users, what Virus protection do you run?

I was trying to use Lyn's MAC to connect to my office, but without Anti Virus software installed, it fails to load the VPN client. What'cha MAC users use? I was looking at Norton Internet Security, $39.99 for a year. Anything as good and cheaper, or free even!

Norton is teh suck. I don't have any recommendation to make, but stay away from Norton of McAfee.

Actually, independent tests show Norton to be in the top 3. It's my preference for paid suites.

I've not had any problems with Noron on my Windows PC, and at work Mcafee sucks ass! I know Norton will pass our tests for AV protection at least tho. tried some freeware version I found, didn't work worth a shit, uninstalled within 5 minutes!

I will say, the Tech/chat support at Norton is fucken horrible! I have a 3 PC license key, and asked if I can use that for the MAC version, he had to Xfer me to the MAC support group! Then that dumbass asks if I want to install the Windows version on my MAC! I kept asking if he understands my simple question, but he didn't,. Fucken retards took 10 minutes to answer a 30 second question.

By the way, yes, it requires a new license to be purchased...

I should psot a copy of the chat transcript!

Is Norton still the resource hog it was a few years back? The last set of studies I saw didn't rate Norton too well, but it's been at least since February the last time I saw the list. Hell I can't even remember what it was called.

Moral of the story, ignore me unless I have a source.

Absolutely not. The internet security suite uses about 15mb of memory and has two processes. I'll show you by remote what it looks like later on if you'd like.

            EDIT:I lied, it's about 9Mb.

Yeah, I've usually gone without too and am careful about what sites I go to or links I click. But the stupid VPN client has a security check and if a certain AV protection level is not met, no workie.
