  • video card

my mom and her boyfriend have an HP Pavillion a6414f. it is a dual core 3.0g, 3 gb ram and on-board video. COD Black Ops plays slow, so i told him he needed to upgrade the video. what would be a good card to use? i told him about this card

is there maybe something in that price range that may be better for this app?

Eh... It's ok but he'll have to play on LOW settings but will probably get by.

That model has a 300watt power supply so you are VERY limited.

Most cards that will run Black ops "Decently" require 400+, mostly 450watt and higher honestly.

That card sucks. Also newegg has the corsair 430w psu for $39.99 today with $25 rebate

this computer is factory original. he hasn't done anything to it. i have no idea what PSU it has on it. right now, it is choppy as hell. i tried to set the settings up but nothing worked. was thinking about going into the bios settings and seeing if i can change the memory usage of the OBV.

Pm me your number. I'll have a decent card he can have here in a week or so, he'll just need to get a power supply for it.

oem psu's usually run better than aftermarket stuff at the same ratings. you could probably rock an nvidia 9600 or 8800gt on that psu and be ok

Buy ZOTAC GeForce 9600 GSO 512MB - up to 1GB with TurboCache GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card ZT-96SES3P-FDL with fast shipping and top-rated customer service. Once you know, you Newegg!

I just picked up a video card today at frys. Its an Evga GeForce GT 240 1GB DDR5. It was $99.99 and has a $40 mail in rebate. Its a really quiet card and its fine with a 300w power supply.

                update-

When everything works it rocks. However, there have been a lot of random blue screens that come on and then the computer restarts so I can't see what the error is to try to correct it.
