  • Best Gaming Console is?

All this talk of gaming has me itching to get back into it. I'm considering purchasing myself a gaming console that I can get online with others and game it up. Is XBox360 the only console that allows you to do that? I have wii and have NO CLUE how to get it up and online, but I don't like the wii much to be honest.

What should I get and why?

You can play and chat online with ps3 as well.

Xbox has RROD, PS3 has YLOD or something similar. I've had 2 or 3 ps3's crap out on me, but every time one does, I buy another 1 yr warranty from Gamestop, and have never had an issue getting it replaced right then and there.

I'm about to buy an xbox though. Supposedly the new ones don't have the RROD issue. I'll still keep my PS3, I've just never given xbox a real chance and figured why the hell not.

        PS3. Xbox is inferior.

I have both and prefer the xbox but you have to pay $60/ year to game online.

The only thing I like better about the ps3 is the bluray player. Also because there is more room on blurays there is sometimes more content on the ps3 version of games.

I like the PS3 because of all of the other things it does. But I think most hardcore gamers like the xbox. Paying for online play sucks ass though.

You're not just paying to play online though.
Exclusive game demos, earlier game content, and much, much better interactions with friends online.
I really like having all the friends from where i've lived playing different games, and all of us being able to be in the same chat session all talking to each other, without having to play the same game to do it.

it's also much easier to communicate and get games started both before actually deciding what game to play, and resuming after a dropped connection or kick online.

I've played both regularly and prefer the Xbox for gaming for a couple of reasons. More console exclusive titles and dedicated servers. Yes, you have to pay to play online, but it's not exactly like it breaks the bank. $60 a year and that comes with a LOT of cool shit that the PS3 does not have. It's funny watching my roommate bitch about the xbox's controls, when the button layout and actions are basically the exact same as the PS3.

The cool thing about the PS3 is obviously the bluray player and the fact that the controllers have built in batteries. With the xbox you might want to purchase the plug and play kit which has rechargable battery packs instead of going through AA batteries.

So, for gaming only and some cool other perks when you buy the "Gold Membership" that allows you to play online, xbox hands down.

If you want a bluray player, the PS3 is the best bluray player out on the market, and probably will be for some time.

I don't know if you'd be interested, but I have two xbox systems and would be willing to trade for a wii, just so I have all three systems.

The one I'd trade is the older style though so it doesn't have HDMI jacks, just component but runs 1080p HD just fine. Looks the exact same as my new one with HDMI and the PS3 that runs HDMI. Plus it would come with the wifi adapter and a controller. I'd even throw CoD:Modern Warfare 2 in with it. And if you trade me, use it for a while and don't like it, I'd trade back.

Get the xbox and get the new Kinect. I have 3 boys and girl (ages 8,8,10,11)and we traded the Wii in for the kinect and they love it. No need for controllers which is why we didnt get the PS3 Move. Only downside is not alot of games right now because its so new.
