  • Meeting a Lt. General

The Army Wounded Warrior program has asked 5 warriors to head to the Lancaster VA and I got the call to go. I have no clue what they want me to talk to him about, evidently they don't tell my advocate what they want to talk about, they just want to talk. Why don't they ever tell me what they want me to converse over? I mean, I have a brain injury, give me a hint or an outline or freaking whisper it in my ear or something.

I've never met that General, but most of them I've talked to in the past are easy to talk to either because...

          1. They are good at it like politicians.
          2. They give a damn and are interested.

I know it seems obvious, but you'll be able to tell pretty quickly. Either way, even as a civilian I had a harder time communicating with O-6s than any General. Although, to be clear it's not like I've been chilling with them as best buddies - just here and there communications when supporting them, briefings or goofy awards/coins...etc.

Should be interesting but as of now, they haven't given me any intel on the conversation topics.

Totally agree. Every General I've ever dealt with (and that would be a lot of them) has been a pretty cool guy.

However their aides are usually total douche bags....

I was the crew chief for General Powell, once when he was visiting Japan. I really cool guy. I crewed for General Shalikashvili on several occasions and he was a totally down to Earth guys. Was always making compliments about my bird.

Seems like a paper pusher though, maybe its just me but I trust the guys that started off being ground pounders first.

Hard to tell, several places he could have been in the field heavily leading and he has at least a Ranger tab, that's saying something. Although...he was also a recruiter.

I'm impressed by the tab and the Bronze Star. Wonder if I can get him to coin me.
