FWIW, right after my injury, I iced my knee for 20 minutes, heat 20 minutes in cycles. I was up walking around the next day with minimal swelling and pain. The trick is learning to walk around not turning your foot or bumping it into shit. My accident happened Sept 18th, I'm still in pain, but I suck it up and work through it. The only time it's unbearable is when it pops out of place. That suuuuucks when that happens. It happens less now that the rest of my knee is healing up. It's been weird having to learn to trust my knee again and learning to walk on it.

I wish I could, but I can't do that long of a recovery process in our situation.
