I think this is a good thing, but it's not like he can veto anything. Almost seems lame duckish, and like it won't do any good until Congress cuts spending.

As much as I like it, it's not as powerful of a position as you think. It can get actions moving, but only into the lion's den to get voted down. It's not like he'll have ultimate reign on the Fed's oversight.

That's more or less what I was thinking.

It'll get his views in more headlines, though. There's always a plus.

I bet one troy ounce of .999 silver that it doesn't happen.

Anyone want to place bets on Ron Paul getting the fuck out of dodge in short order?

Once he starts heading it up, and sees just how fucked we all really are, he may be joining you in Fiji!

Thomas Jefferson probably had it right back in the day.

"If the America people ever allow private banks to control the issuance of their currencies, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all their prosperity until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

He's already got housing and plans elsewhere outside the country. Where, exactly; I'm not sure.

In a debate once upon a time. he was very much against a national bank.

                              A couple hundred years ago.
