  • Does anyone have a bike I can ride/borrow/rent?

Im fairly certain the answer is going to be no but I figured Id ask.
Iv been working out pretty solid for the past 3 months and Iv started jogging about 7 miles around the Benbrook Lake horse trails for the past few weeks. Iv wanted to get a bike that I can ride on some trails and take on the road but Im not sure if I would enjoy it enough to buy a bike. Id like to try it out a few times and then make up my mind about buying a good bike. Is anyone willing to let me ride an extra bike of there's for a few miles or rent it from them for a few weeks? Im 6'4 215lbs so it would need to be a bike that'll fit. Iv got some expensive tools I can leave as collateral.

I know that here in El Paso you can go to the bike shop and rent one from them. I think it's around $40 for the day. I would imagine the bike shops over there may do the same. That may be a good option in case someone doesn't or can't come through for you. Good luck. Cycling is a ton of fun. I have a strong feeling that you will love it. I definitely prefer cycling to jogging/runing. Fuck a bunch of that. Anyways I know my info isn't all that helpful but I hope it all works out for you!

some shops will rent and apply that towards the purchase if you decide to buy. I started cycling about once a week with group rides and love it. I would probably even just cycle but have some goals I need to achieve in running. me personally, I'll stick to road cycling as I hear too many stories of injuries with mountain biking.

Injuries are directly related to your IQ. Mine must be low . Me and my buds push each other to go big or go home and alot of the time that means not going to work for the chance to be that Sunday's badass . Ive been hit with a beer bottle while playing on the pavement. I'll never be a road fairy again !

Try Bicycles Inc (old Granbury or Trail Lake) or Performance Bike on Hulen for rentals

Have you ever thought about going the road bike route? I'm hooked now. I had a mountain bike but can't say enough about riding a road bike. Love the benbrook.

most bike shops do rentals. That way you can try out a few bikes and see what you like.

I have a bike you can borrow if you didn't find one already. I don't know the frame size though. I'm only 5 10 and it fits me fine, so I'm not sure that it would be tall enough for you.

That is going to be way too small. He needs a XL frame.

I normally start near downtown fort worth. I ride into the Benbrook lake park and all the way through it to 377 and back to down town. It is about a 42 mile trip. I try to ride this at least once a week. A road bike is going to go a lot faster than a mountain bike due to the size of the tires. I average about 16-17 mph. I started the year in the 265-270 range. I now weigh in at about 220. I would say along with working out the biking does more for me than anything else.

Each ride I tend to burn about 3000-3500 calories.

Im attempting to sell my toolbox and with the money from that buy a decent bike. Either sell it and use the money for a bike or trade it for a bike and cash. Im only looking to spend around $1000 on a bike. Hopefully I get a taker on the box soon.
