  • Finally benched 300lbs!

    I know that most of y'all have hit this benchmark a long time and have way surpassed it, but my bench press is notoriously shitty. Basically my five workout days go crossfit, chest, crossfit, legs, crossfit. Basically my legs are always sore because crossfit uses a lot of legs. However, I did notice that those workouts don't really focus on chest strength. So I lift heavy on my chest days. About 2 months ago I hit 285 and thought "I can do this." and despite working in some pushups yesterday into my workout I finally hit 300. I was fucking stoked.

    Now I told my dad and asked what the best he ever benched was and he said he hit 315 back in the day. So my new goal is 320lbs just to progress genetic evolution. After that, I really don't give a shit. I hate doing chest.

      Congrats. I haven't done bench in years, but my max was 220lbs. Of course I was only 155lbs at the time, so it was a big deal to me.

            I go about an inch from my chest which is non-existant and I weigh 220lbs at 6' 1".

              Congrat.
              I know the feeling of reaching 300. Im sure i can barely do 200, been awhile since ive hit the gym.

                Good for you. I cant wait to start bulking back up so
                I can get back into the 300's. Since slimming down I have dropped to maybe max in the 260-280's. Are you sure it was only 300? I thought I did 300 but it turned out to be 315 cause I was too pumped to do math. 340 is your next step!!

                  It was 300 because I felt like a pussy using the 2 1/2 lbs weights just to hit the number. I'm not really trying to bulk up, just wanted to see if I could do it.

                      nice job. I college I could do 335. I however was more impressed with being able to do 225x22.

                        My best is 405 at 240.. I don't plan on ever getting there again. But if I do it would be cool!

                          Did 225 27 times one day mid way through a chest workout just to see what I could do. I was watching some draft stuff and they were talking about it. I think I could have done 30. I cant even do 15 reps now. I'm slowing getting g back in the gym.

                            Congrats. I just started doing 225 a month ago, then a week later i hurt my back and have not lifted in two weeks. Looking forward to getting back into it, but going to give my back another week to fully heal. No reason to jump back in too quick.

                              congrats on hitting that mark!

                              I cant max bench because of 2 rotator cuff surgeries, but i was always curious what i could press. I am happy with being able to bang out sets with 45lb dumbells.
                              May God give us strength and courage in the time of our darkest hours.
