  • Selling a parts car

So I called that "Junk for Cars" number to try and sell a parts car I have in my yard, and they want a title.......yeah, I don't have it. So I filled out the necessary paperwork with the state of Texas for an abandoned car. Now I'm just waiting on the release or whatever so I can sell it.

Why is this process so complicated? Why do you need a title to scrap a car?

I can understand not wanting to be responsible for disposing of a stolen vehicle, but you don't need a title to prove it's not stolen. A simple VIN check will show that. I am thinking about spending a few hours out there with a plasma torch and piling up the pieces in my truck, then driving to my local scrap yard.

Before I do that, I put an ad on craigslist and my phone is blowing up. Fine! I'll take a hit on the price I would get scrapping it, just come pick it up, I don't want to mess with it.

I have always put my junk cars on craigslist in the free section.

I know, I'd like $100-$150 to go towards my current project, but it's almost not worth the trouble.

Well, it was up on craigslist for two hours and it's gone!

        Take that needless bureaucracy!
