  • How do you guys feel about ASUS laptops?

I was looking at this one:

I would like a newer gaming machine, but don't want to build a desktop, as I like the mobility of a laptop if and when I need to move it. Also, I don't play any hard-hitting games and generally don't really care whether or not I can max out the settings. I play pretty much League of Legends, CS:GO, Diablo III (less and less on this one), and want something that can handle some of the newer games coming out. Kinda tired of my XBOX. Can these be found for cheaper?

I've got two. The first one I got has been a good machine bit my wife dropped It off the couch and now its a desktop. The second machine is a piece of junk. Blue screens on occasion, restart randomly. So I am disappointed in it. I dunno, maybe they are hit or miss.

You sure your wife didn't drop the second one, too?

        That is a high possibility.

It sucks too. I really like the first laptop. Monitor size was good and the machine ran well. Now I have to keep it hooked up to a monitor.

I will say, the first laptop did have something wrong with the video card from day one. The video card makes the screen glitch every now and then. I know this because it did it on the laptop screen and the monitor I have it hooked to.

IMO ASUS laptops are some of the best out there. They use top grade components (their own brand) and they have the most variety when it comes to configurations out there.

Is it blue screening because of a hardware issue?

G75 has been a good machine to me.

I haven't had time to really dig, but if I had to guess, its something hosed in Windows. It works fine, and then will just give a blue screen every now and then. It just acts weird sometimes.

I have an ASUS G50V that's a few years old now. Still running strong. Needs a new battery though, this one is worn out.

                Great laptops IMO.

Thanks for the advice. I'm just starting to get really hesitant about using my work-provided laptop for EVERYTHING I do (that's obviously never a good policy), and my old XPS m1530 isn't cutting it anymore.

Personally, i'll buy an ASUS before buying a similar HP or Dell.

Really? I've always loved my Dell laptops, but then again, I've never had anything different. 17" laptop seems kinda big, but that thing has a pretty monster video card in it for a laptop.

I haven't had a chance to check out the new XPS machines and I've they've improved. ASUS just has a good reputation with making quality parts and they've got a laptop for just about any price point out there, they've been my go to for laptops the few years.

I have a 17" Asus that is 3 years old now. I run design/rendering/gaming/pr0n with no problems. I will buy another Asus when the time comes since this one has nearly put me through college.

They are cheap and good. I had one 24 inch monitor crap out a month out of its warranty and they still replaced it for just the cost of shipping.
