What are your responsibilities as a seller?

I haven't done too many gun sales, as I usually the buyer, however I did just sell my old pocket carry to a guy.

This was the first time I ever thought "what if this guy is a felon?". He didn't give me any vibes to think any ill will, but just curious what others thoughts were on this. I did get all of his info, but what, as private sellers, are the appropriate steps you should take for due diligence and risk mitigation?

If the government has their way all firearm transactions will require a background check, for exactly the instance you speak of.

Selling only to CHL holders is one way to go.

You can transfer through an FFL only, if you feel weird about it.

I don't have a CHL but am trustworthy - was just curious what the consensus was.

I don't think everything is background check or FFL necessary, but I think it's just a gut feeling...

I sell to CHL holders only or require the buyer to furnish a full name and date of birth before I leave home. That way I can look up any record. I also make the buyer show me state id when I meet.

I don't want to sell to a felon o I use more precaution than most. Never a bill of sale though.

I always use the free bill of sale. From the ATF website. That way ur ass is covered. Talk to the guy for a few mins.
