  • 4l60e front pump

I pulled the trans off today to give it one last cleaning before going into the f100 for the last time. I noticed a couple chips of metal on the converter snout and suspect my Dad may have damaged the front pump when mating it to the motor.

The pump assembly is out of the case, but I really dont know where to go from here. Can anyone offer insight into separating the housing to remove the rotor or recommend someone in the area to have a look at it?

Got the pump apart and the rotor is fractured.

Anyone know who have may have one of these locally?

Any idea if they could repair the converter if damaged?

Phoenix Trans in weatherford would probably have one(rotor) in stock. Could possibly fix the converter too.
Or there is a place on eden rd in Kennedale south of Mansfield hwy before the railroad tracks by the old skating rink that does converters.
Or in Halton city off minnis n midway the dacco trans part place would have a rotor. Or trans star on Irving Blvd in Dallas.

Thanks for the additional recommendations. I am going to try and find somewhere a bit closer to home, but if it comes to it Ill make the drive.

I am sure the converter can be repaired, but it would be nice if the damage is not enough to require that. There are very small depressions from the pump pushing into the vertical surface on the face of the drive hub.

Edit: Just went to look at it again now that I am less angry. I think the converter will be fine. You can see the depressions at the bottom of the valley in the notch on the drive hub. It also looks like the metal pieces I found were chipped off the upper inside edges of the same notch. What do you guys think.

I'd put a new rotor in, make sure it has hardened rings(sez 4l60e so it should), and put her back together and run it.
I guess the vanes are good? Does it have a good spring in it? Big boost and rev boost valves? Line bias valve blocked or stiffer spring, and line bias valve in the pressure valve? Corvette or aftermarket servo? Beast Sun shell, 5 pinion planetary?

The only parts I can be sure of are the vette servo and a converter that is marker TMAX. The vanes are in good shape and everything was really clean inside. It was in a friends car with about 60k since a rebuild. I will try and see if he hung on to the bill, but i doubt he did.

What part of town are you located in? If you are on the east side let me know if I can help you out. If it never turned after the rotor broke you prob. only need a new rotor. Is it a 10 vane or 13 vane?

It was never ran after the rotor fractured.I am in Coppell and its a 13 vain.

I just talked with mike but did not realize his place is nearly an hour and a half out. Likely longer with the weather.

                      Where are you located Woods?
