  • What do you bring to work with you for lunch?

I bring my lunch, and need some ideas on a change of pace from the regular sandwiches and crap. I actually look forward to leftovers.

When I cook, Ill try to make some extra to bring with me, but the wife doesnt. Anything prepackaged that I can toss in the freezer??

GF cooks enough to feed an Army, and there's only 2 of us in the house. I never have a shortage of leftovers. I usually look forward to a damn sandwich!

I typically hate carrying dirty dishes home but when I do take my lunch...

        Spaghetti
        brisket w/ side
grilled chicken(no more than 1day old) w/ whole grain rice
chicken fried steak/chicken patties with mashed potatoes
        grilled salmon w/ a side

For frozen meals, the Marie Calenders chicken pot pies are awesome! Also the individual size of Stoeffers (sp) lasagna are good. You can also find some frozen pasta meals that are easy to cook the night before.

For me, it has to reheat well and be edible with a utensil. I have issues touching foods with my fingers at work or assembling my food so stuff like wings, chicken legs, finger foods and sandwiches are out.

We have a fridge/freezer, microwave and a dishwasher at work, so I brought a couple throw away type plastic bowls with lids and keep them in my desk. Usually I buy cans of Progresso soup and have that for lunch, or leftovers. Sometimes I run up to Whole Foods (close by the office) and buy some veggies to throw in the fridge at work and munch during the day, the soup sometimes is not enough, LOL.

my options are limited to fast food due to time. About twice a year I actually take a full hour and go sit down somewhere. It gets old really quick to hit the same 5 fast food spots.

DJ, think outside the box. A lot of grocery stores have salad bars and such now, as well delis. Casseroles reheat well. If you worked with me, and heated up salmon in a microwave, I might kick you in the teeth. I also second the "lots of BBQ". Chicken salad, tuna salad, enchiladas, etc. When I'm eating right, I take a salad, dressing in a separate container to keep it from wilting.

LOL, no....I just don't like touching food. I mean, I can sit down and tear up some wings, but I'm the first one to the bathroom to wash my hands. When I make a sammich, I HAVE to wash my hands after handling the deli meat. I just don't like getting my hand "food dirty" or my work space dirty

Left overs, every dinner the wife and I make extra for left overs the next day.

Yesterday for lunch was rib-eye and salad, today was sausage wraps with cheese and a salad, tonight we some kind of chicken dish, so i'm sure that is what I'm having tomorrow. I make the hidden valley buttermilk ranch with all the low fat junk and keep it in a separate container for the salad.

Normally on Sundays the wife and I make hamburger patties with gouda cheese cooked in. For the days we didn't have enough left overs for both of us, or we just felt like being lazy and eat out that night.

When we make spaghetti, ill make two batches of it and eat that all week. It's a rarity now though as I'm trying to cut back on my carb addiction.

If you have a grocery store near buy hit that up, nearly all of them have a deli/salad bar.

                          Progresso soup

Have you and a couple of guys order in pizza or Chinese.

My biggest change lately is I stopped drinking cokes... So I'm craving sweets all day.

Most of the time I just snack on sunflower seeds all day, then around noon I will have a spicy hot V8. Going to lunch everyday is just too damn expensive, and with three kids, myself, and the wife at home for dinner there arent any leftovers.

Every once in a while I will buy a few of the frozen Boston Market entrees to eat (cheapest I have found is at Kroger, they usually have a 5 for $10 sale). The pot roast, chicken fettuccine, and turkey dinners are pretty good.
