  • Advantage Auto Works Spring Car Show....

A good friend of mine is one of the brothers that owns this shop....their annual show is coming up next weekend, so I thought I'd pass along the info. It's always a really good show, and they have a cool shop as well. It's free to show up and watch the stunt bikes, tour the shop, etc. Or just $15 if you have something to enter.

I'm planning to debut my fastback out there...look for it and come say hello....

Yeah I know...it sounds pretty lame, but the burnout contest was actually not too bad last year. One of the top 3 had some old rat rod that didn't have brakes to hold it, so they pulled a 9N tractor out there to hold it and pretty much left it wide open until it blew a tire off.

I genuinely think it sounds fun, but I am often easily entertained. Going to try and bring my 7yo

I went last year and it was pretty good.
My girlfriend owns a car that Todd painted many years ago and she's talking it out there Saturday.

Todd's a good dude. I know Chris pretty well too, but don't really hang out with him but a couple times a year. Todd and I hang out at least a couple weekends a month....usually more-so in the summer/car season.

What car does your girlfriend have?

                It's a red 71 Vette.
It was built by her late husband which was good friends with Todd and grew up with Alex, which I'm guessing is your neighbor from a pic you posted a while back of a car in his shop.

Next time you're hanging out with Todd ask him what all he remembers about a weekend in New Orleans 2003. We all had an epic night on bourbon street. lol

Yup, I've met Holly several times....and that is a nice Vette. Crazy Al is my next door neighbor.

I hate to ask, but are you Chris? Last time I saw her she was dating a guy named Chris (been a little while)...nice guy, but I didn't get that he was much of a car guy....so I'm assuming probably not.

I'll probably drop by the shop on Friday to see how the setup is going....I'll be sure to ask Todd.

Maybe see you out there this weekend?

Thanks! Mark Preus painted it last year. He does nice work...and also a great guy.

Thanks man...I must say, it has turned out to be a really nice car, and I think whoever ends up buying it will be very happy. It was never one of my favorite colors either, it is the original but of course in a base/clear (with maybe a little more metallic) which I think makes it pop a lot better than it did originally - it's called Burnt Amber. It looks best with some black accents for sure.

When I bought it I had thought more about a color change, but the Mardi Report shows it to be only 1 of just 965 GTA fastbacks painted that color in 67'....and since we tried to stay mostly original with this one, it made more sense to go back with the original color too.

I'm planning to drop the rear about 1" to get it sitting a little more flat.

For reference, here is what it looked like the day I brought it home (before new paint)....

                            No I'm not him.
I'll be there with her Saturday, I took the car last year and stayed for a while since she was out of town.
