  • .357 or other pistol caliber lever gun

Got my marlin 30-30. Recently sold it off. I love the look of the 1873, 1892, and 1894 model lever guns. More cowboy esque then a 336. I would prefer to grab one in a pistol caliber for the basic fact that it's cheaper to shoot.

Anyone have a used one, preferably in .357/.38, that is in nice condition? Or know where to get one locally at a decent price. I don't care on the brand. I am not rich either. I have done some research and found high praises for Rossi model m92's. Thoughts?

She will be used for plinking. Only mod I'd wish to do is some sort or receiver mounted peep sight.

I'd look for a Rossi if I was you. I don't think they can be beat for the money. Mine in 45 LC shoots amazingly well and there are tang peeps out there for them.

I have had quite a few pistol caliber lever guns over the years and have formed the opinion that they are worthless. Stick to a real rifle caliber in a rifle unless they make a lever gun in .454 Casull. Pistol calibers are very weak compared to even a modest rifle cartridge. You also run into the problem of normal hand gun loads not being hot enough to shoot in a rifle without risking blowing up a barrel.

My crazy ass would love a 357 lever gun... Short barrel it with a 9mm suppressor.

Rossi makes one that's pretty damn short as it is.

Even a low power .38 special shouldn't cause a squib. You'd have to have some cowboy 200fps wadcutter load to even MAYBE cause a squib.

Every time a lever gun thread comes up I renew my desire to SBR my .45-70 1895GS and put a can on it.

Agreed. I want a .500magnum gun to shoot subsonic 1300gr rounds with a suppressor. That way I can fire AA batteries at pigs without hearing protection.

It had a maxim suppressor on it offset to use the factory iron sights. He used around his personal house.
