What would cause an '06 R6 to die at idle when not at full operating temperature? It's clean and priced right, but I'd like to know the answer to this first. 22k miles. A couple of guys mentioned valve adjustment, since it would obviously be due at 22k if never performed before.
Also, it idles at 2k rpm. That seems high to me. The '06 is also know for being up to 9% off on its tach.

    Thanks!

I had an '05 50th R6 with 18k that would act squirrelly at low rpms and initial takeoff. Valve adjustment didn't help it either, never nailed down the issue before I sold it. Best damn looking paint scheme by far though.

well your 05 is different than the 06....

1st thing -- is in 05 yamaha was at 49 not 50 so your bike did not come from the factory with the 50th paint.

2nd-- the motors are completely different between 05 and 06 R6. but the 05 r6 is the same as the 06 R6S. the r6s did not come in the 50th colors either.

to the OP, does the the bike throw any codes?

You are wrong again...... 2006 was Yamaha's 50th models, you can use the body work from a 06 r1 on 04-06 r1's.

But the 2006 r6 is a different body style than the 05.

If you wish to have a battle of wits about Yamaha's we can, but I worked in the motorcycle biz from 2000-2012, most of that time was with 2 different Yamaha dealers.

Yamaha-Suzuki West in 03-05, and Stadium Yamaha in 2006.

If yours had 50th paint it was not factory.

I'm like 90% sure BPP is right on this. I thought about trading in my 04 raven R1 for this paint scheme. in 07.

No codes. The gas light is always on/blinking though. I believe it's just a bad ground.

^^^yup I was wrong. Mine was an 06 lololol.

So my '06 R6 has been sitting a week, go out to start it and it wont fire without giving it gas, and it won't idle until I've held the throttle and kept the RPM's up for awhile. If I let off the throttle too early it just dies. If I hold it there awhile, maybe until it warms up, it idles and rides fine until I kill it, then the

if the idle is up that far it sounds as if somebody has been into the ecu before, as it is pretty much necessary with the fly by wire restrictions on the throttle.

Hold the starter button in after it fires the first time, for just a bit longer.........

Ended up skipping that thing and buying an '06 ZX10R. It's really well taken care of and has some fun parts on it.
