  • Looking for an AK47 or 74..where to look for best deals?

I know some of you are very much pro-AR15 and some of you (probably a lot of you) own AK's. Given I already have over 1k rounds of 7.62x39 I've decided I would like to add an AK to my gun collection. Any suggestions on where to get a good deal on one?

I'd buy from a private individual. Have decided what you want to spend and what kind of AK you want?

I'm reading what I can find...but theres a LOT of questionable material out there. I'd like to spend under $500 for a good reliable gun. I don't need or want a decked out tactiCOOL gun that has GPS, MP3 player, dual lasers, grenade launchers, tripods, microwave oven, etc, etc, etc...I just want a good functioning gun that wont give me any problems.

Well, do you want an under folder, a side folder, a fixed stock? I am partial to Yugo guns, because they have an RPK trunion, 1.5mm receiver, night sights, and a bolt hold open. A really fun gun is a Yugo M70AB2.

as long as it doesnt have a canted front sight, every single one of the century guns I have had was badly canted.

I think those are coming over as sporters with century doing only the conversion work.

Atlantic has some century guns that I would think about if I was buying new and didn't want to spend the Arsenal $. And they check them before they send it out. Both Atlantic and JG Sales have had good customer service when I had issues.

I have been really happy with the WASR I traded a member here for.

However after I got burned with a Century ak74 I will never buy another gun of theirs that isn't checked out by someone I trust or myself in person first.

I'm gonna agree with Mach1. Century is okay but you need to touch and play with it in person. The shop I went to had around 20 WASRs in stock and I picked the one with the best mag we'll fit and straightest front sight etc. there are decent inexpensive AKs out there but it's best to pick it yourself.

They are fun to shoot and easy to own. Look in the thread I started to see what an ugly WASR can look like after a few hours.

                            People really like these:

Made in the same factory that produced top quality rifles for former Yugoslavia like the M70B1 and M70AB2

I have one that I have beaten up really bad and it keeps on chugging!

I can order you one if you want.
