  • Thought i'd ask here

Just saw this asked on fb and figured if see what you guys think.

If you leave a stand or blind on public land would be upset if other used it?

My theory here is if you leave something out on public land for weeks you're probably gonna be lucky for it to just be there when you get back. Pony up and get a lease

I dont think I would leave one, but I wouldnt be pissed if someone used something I left on PUBLIC land. Now, if I went to use it and someone else was in it, Id explain that I left it there, and would ask them to find another spot. If not, they may have an unfortunate hunting accident.

Agreed, everyone I know that has left something on Public land, has had it stolen or destroyed...

If I left it then I'd expect it to get used.

That's not to say I would use someone else's stuff if it were there... but people will be people.

people fuck with stands on private leases. I wouldn't have any expectations.

Public land is exactly that, public. There's no ownership to property if you leave something out there. I don't think it's right to take something that's isn't yours, but unfortunately people will take things that don't belong to them.

That logic is mind boggling, I would tell you to pound sand if you came with an attitude.

Hell, on the lease this past dove season, I almost got into a damn fist fight with some new jackasses on the lease. People are fucking stupid, lease drama knows no bounds.

I hunt public game lands in PA. Some of the guys leave stands up there...etc and are anticipating them being gone the next year...never are....My Dad and I break them down and hide them out there in the leaves. Still could be stolen. Now if someone set it back up in my hunting spot I'd be annoyed. Hard to prove though.

It may be illegal to leave stuff on public land. Leaving your decoys out on Corps of Engineers property for 24 hours, for example, could get you a sweet fine. The kind of people that leave stands up on public land are also the kind of people that store all their shit in their front yard.

I'm trying to understand the logic of telling someone to pound sand from the point of view of being someone no better than a Detroit home squatter telling the home owner to leave. .. . .

It's public land... what is so hard to understand about that? You should have no expectations of ownership on anything you leave there. If you don't want people using your shit take it with you.

Nope and I dont mess with people's stuff in the setting that is being discussed either. I would not try and hold anyone responsible that did though.

So why would you tell someone to pound sand in a situation that you claim you'd never put yourself in? I don't get it. . . .
