All 642s are DAO as they don't have an external hammer.

Is the factory trigger job worth it? I've seen a gunsmoke edition airweight that had a bobbed hammer, action job, and a hip clip. That was exactly what I wanted except when I handled it I noticed the action was DAO. The base gun is a model 637 SA/DA. Is there an easy way to fix the action to operate SA?
Or would I be better off buying a 637 and having it bobbed, action cleaned, and installing the hip clip.

I know the trigger on my 642 Pro was horrendous when I bought it. 13 lbs and not very smooth. I did a Wilson Combat spring kit and some polishing and it's still over 10 lbs but a lot smoother.

I've never handled the Gunsmoke edition. How did the trigger feel?

Also wondering why they bother with a hammer if they are making them DAO. Maybe because some LE agencies require DAO for revolvers?
