  • Directv home requirements?

Buying a place that has not been wired for satellite or phone land lines. We are planning to go with Directv. Anyone familiar with their wireless receivers? Does it require any wired receivers, or can you use all wireless throughout the home?

Trying to avoid cluttering up the walls with outlets as much as possible.

You'll have to run coax from the dish to at least one receiver. The wireless genie boxes run from a wired DVR receiver through a bridge device. Once it's setup you could hide the wired box anywhere you wanted though.

This. Also keep in mind 5hat the wired box needs to have a tv connected to it just for the technician to set it all up. Once he is done you can remove the tv if the box is in an area no one would use. We originally put the main box in our bedroom, but never really watch tv there, so we moved my son's small tv in there temporarily for the install, then moved it back when he was done.

And fyi if you are planning on any international packages they use a seperate dish and ours had to be ordered ahead of time. Not a big deal but if not planned in advance it can slow stuff down. We didn't know it and had to wait an extra week or two for the second dish to arrive.
I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.
