  • Video Card rec please

My BF4 could play smoother, and I'm considering getting Battlefront when i comes out in november.

I'm looking for a video card recommendation.

    Currently running
    GeForce 560 GTX
    Intel Core i3-3225 CPU @ 3.30GHz
    8 gig ram
    Windows 7.

Is there any more information I need to provide?

a 4gb gtx 960 wouldn't be bad, but that processor has me kind of worried.

970 is your bang for the buck these days. That's what I'm running. If you're patient, you could get a 970 off ebay for $280-290. I'd put just a little more money on top of your $250 and get a 970. Its well worth it over a 960. The 960 is little more than a GTX 770 with a different number on it. They like to do that a lot. And you could get a 770 for $160 easy. Scroll down a bit on this link, and take a good look at their comparison here.

A 970 however, is about 2.3x greater than a 770, in my personal experience. My 970 runs games at over double the framerate of my 770. Games like the Witcher 3, That new lord or the rings game, and a few other really demanding games. They all seem to see over a 2x increase in framerate.

I'm tellin' ya man, get a 970. lol

I wouldn't worry too much about your processor at the moment. Games are just now starting to even be able to utilize more than a couple of cores. The amount of RAM and video card choice are typically what must be upgraded the most often anyway, IMO.

Also, if going with a more powerful GPU - be sure your power supply is sufficient. Overworked PSUs cause strange glitches and problems to happen. Keep that in mind if you have issues after the installation. It could be a PSU issue if nothing else works.

getting a 970 with that cpu is going to be a waste of money. That cpu is going to be a bottleneck that won't allow you to get the best out of a 970.

Relax about the processor. Upgrade your video card first then see where you are at. If you are still having issues then look into upgrading further.

But cjs old set up if he still has it. He was selling it for cheaper than you could get a new gpu and cpu.

You don't even need a new GPU. Buy my pc fans. 50% off and they should add 50% fps gains whether they are p!ugged in or not. Buy my fans.

I used to have these 10k RPM 40mm fans on top of my video card that was water cooled just to give it that extra heat removal. I cut my finger so bad on them.

Just got 10 of these for my rads. If you poke at them they explode and you get cut to the bone.

Harrison, you should get a minimum of 3770k these days. Z97x mobo. Ddr3 ram. Then you can use high end keplar or low end maxwell gpus without bottleneck. Even cjs will bottleneck you but not as much because you are going low end maxwell.

Maxwell tends to bottleneck even newer cpus like mine (5820k even 6700k) at 1080p. The only CPU now that has no sign of bottleneck at 1080p is 5960x. That's $1100 cpu. Jump to 1440p and 2160p and the bottleneck goes away.

I don't know specifics on why this is but it is true.
