  • Three monitor help!!!!

I have three samsung 27" monitors at work. All the same monitor. Two plugged in through display port and one plugged in through dvid. all three ports are on video card. Two of the three monitors are very bright and can adjust setting - one monitor will not let me adjust the brightness and it is significantly dimmer than the others. What is weird is it is one of the display port monitors that is dimmer.

    How do i fix this?????

Technology, computers especially, respond best to violence. Did you try turning them off, then on, and then hitting them?

Try swapping displays to see if it follows the monitor or if it stays with whatever the display port is attached.

I know it is a hookup or setting option in the computer. All 3 worked on my old computer just fine. What is weird two of them give me options on the monitors to adjust brightness, the third is blacked out and no adjustments available for brightness.

Correction though n my prior post. One is DVID, one is display port, and one is HDMI that goes through an adapter. It is the HDMI one that does not allow adjustments.

What kind of adapter are you using? What connections do you have on the computer?

Edit: I'm also confused how you are using DVI when the model you gave doesn't have a DVI connection on it or a Display Port...

ok guess i should have clarified to start with to make it easier

Monitor 1 @ computer HDMI to startech adapter to RGB in monitor

Monitor 2 @ computer display port to hdmi cable @ monitor

Monitor 3 @ computer dvid to RGB adapter to rgb at monitor

monitor 1 is the only giving no adjustment options

all on a Nvidia GeForce GT 640 card...could a driver need updating??

probably because you are technically using an analog display plugged into a digital output, it's probably an EDID issue

are you sure the DVI is DVI-D and not DVI-I?

I have a similar problem, but I am using a USB to HDMI converter for my third display. The other two work as they should.

I don't know what or why you are using 3 screens, but its not worth it. You will always have trouble and its better to ask for help on overclock.net than dfwmustangs.net because people here generally don't have much experience with that.

Good rule of thumb with home PC's, the more peripherals and crap you hook up to it the more you will find yourself trouble shooting issues rather than being productive.

So.... I'm guessing you don't do much with them either.

                              IT is DVI-I, my mistake!

haha, have to have three in my line of work as a geologist. Have outlook open in part of 1 screen, petra our mapping project open in middle screen and our seismic program open on the other, with a small map open in part of the one with outlook open

so maybe try to use the hdmi port with the dvi-I out on the video card?
