  • Northstar is getting dumber

Was at the Kart track checking for damage from last nights storm. ( didn't find much other than some hail damages ) . Saw the championship qualifying tonight at Northstar going on. Cool cars.

    However.

Not a catch fence, barrier, or gravel pit at the end of the track. At last night's board meeting, it was suggested that we (North Texas Karters) stack all of the concrete that we removed from the grid, that we just replaced, along the fence. We race tomorrow afternoon. We can't have a car come onto the track, such as the 69 'stang did a few weeks ago.

We put up a stop sign on our side of the track, but I don't think it's working.

First of all the car never went on your track get the fact, next we don't need to have a pissing match, what we all need to do is get both side on the same page and make sure no one gets hurt on both sides for any incident from the the drag cars or the carkart side

I was in the Flag stand when the early model Camaro came thru the fence and stopped within 20 feet of the scoreing tower. During a race, Karts on the track.

Car vs. Kart. We can't have that. The drag strip still has not fixed the fence for that one.

How about when the drunk took the rented newer pickup truck into our barrier? We had to fix the pipe barrier as it was so bent up, totaled the truck. What about the altered that came onto our paved track? We were lucky that it was between races and no Karts were running on the track. The 69 mustang
not onto the track, how come I have a headlight, mirror, all sorts of bondo chunks and metal pieces. The car only stopped when it hit our barrier.

The drag strip needs to put walls all the way down the track that keep cars on the track and then into a gravel trap, then netting, then tractor tires, jersey barrier.

Psst, actually the Kart track was there first.
I was there in the late 90s when Denton first opened and remember the karts already being there cause we used to go to the fence and watch them.

We bought the land and began building the track in 1989.

                  Just an F.Y.I.

Gene bought the track for $47,000 for back taxes when Chuck defaulted on tax payments. He didn't build it as he claims.

We would like to start working on the access road but Gene won't help out with $$$ and we have to get his permission to do anything to it. All he want's to do is for us to pave it. We would like to put down shingle strips or recycled asphalt.
The first thing that has to be done is fix the drainage from the drag strip that goes across the road. The wrecking yard has told us that they don't care about doing anything to the road.

If we have to build a barrier, we can't work on the road.

Today we reinforced the barrier, lots more pipe was added.

Plans to make it wider in the future.

                    Where is the new net?

I wish they could turn the track to face east. Would solve all the issues plus keep drivers from facing the sun for afternoon races.

Is that Gene Nicodemus that you are talking about?
Magnus, I am your father. You need to ask your mother about a man named Calvin Klein.

I have know him since 7th grade but I have not seen him in 20 + years. Someone told me that he owned the track but I forgot about that until I saw his named mentioned.
