  • Best place to get a valve job done?

Local machine shop here in Denton didn't want to hot tank a set of heads for me, I just wanted them cleaned so I can knock out a little slag. They're bare with no valves and only around 1500-2000 miles on them.

While taking them apart I noticed one valve was ruined and 1 valve seat may need to be replaced. I was wanting a 5 angle valve job done as well.

If cleaning is too much to ask without them doing $$$ worth of work as well. Then they won't get any of my other business either.

Willing to travel anywhere in the Dfw.

    Quality is what I'm after.

Not enough profit in just a simple cleaning. They only will do it if I have them do something else as well. Like a valve job ect...

I understand being busy. Just say you're busy. Not that hot tanking a set of heads is too much of a hassle.

did you ask them to hot tank and do a valve job?

No, I asked them to hot tank them. And when he told me no, I said thank you and left.

I want them cleaned properly before I start to do any work on them, I have a few peices of casting slag I'm going to remove and polish the chambers and exhaust ports.

Aircraft remover works great. But it doesn't get into the EGR passages or the smog tube/ports. I'd also like all the coolant crud cleaned out.

Plus they don't have a serdi machine to the best of my knowledge.

                Not safe on aluminum.

Really? How so? Will my bell housing disintegrate?

Read the bottle, but I used simple green and zep citrus with no luck.

Used Arlington machine shop since 97. Eddie has always has done a good job. Never had an issue with purple cleaner we get from Napa. Maybe if it sits on it long enough time, it might look dull.

Contains Lye, will eat aluminum. However it does work well. But not as good as aircraft remover.
