  • Well folks. I need them feels.

The wife and I have no kids but a little over 4 years ago I got a lab and her name is penny. Yesterday after a walk she had what appeared to be a stroke. Loss of balance etc eye shake. Disoriented etc. Never fell down.

Called the emergency vet and they said to monitor her and bring her I. In the morning. N the morning after a night at rest she was looking better. Had a little wobble at first but then acted like her old self for a few hours before the vet visit.

They did a full panel of test and nothing showed anything so I left her there to be monitored for the day. She acted fine all day, but around the same time as yesterday 6pmish she had another episode. I had the wife call the emergency vet again and we where told to document as much as we can etc.

Besides my wife this dog means the world to me. And it sucks seeing her like this, but she appears to have no pain and still acts normal. I'm betting next step is mri and I'm really not wanting to admit that to myself just yet.

Awful news, and I hate to hear it.

I would be pretty hurt if anything were to happen to my dog, Lucky.

I'm sorry man. When it happens, give Penny a big bear hug. Obviously she'll like the attention and it will make her feel more stable and less disoriented. Hopefully the vet has good news for you.

My dog Chopper is 13.5 and our other dog Stevie Ray is about the same. Chopper is doing pretty good, but Stevie has seizures and in the past couple of weeks he's had some really bad balance problems. They do get old...

I'm sorry to hear that. It really sucks to see someone/something you love so much go through something so horrible.

Have they considered meningitis? Our 2.5 year old Vizsla got meningitis (likely from a mosquito bite) and had symptoms much like what you are describing. Loss of balance, seizures, walking backwards in circles, irritability, etc.

I'm sorry to hear that. Good luck. I know how deep dogs can embed themselves into our hearts.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

sorry to hear. My mom's dog lived 10+ years on seizure meds, hopefully yours can be managed in a similar way.

As I mentioned earlier, Jenn is going to show the video to her vet, as well as the symptoms. Send me the new one that you have and I will forward that to her as well. Of course, visual observation will never be as certain as medical diagnostics, but, he may have seen a similar case.

Having pets as kids can be tough. Before we had Lance, that is exactly what our pets were, our kids. Now, Lance hasn't changed that, but they aren't our only kids now. We spent $4k on our cat to put a titanium plate in his pelvis after he fell out of a tree onto our chain link gate.

Our view on it is, if we can bring them back to health and them still have a solid quality of life, we will spend whatever it takes. If we can not get them help and maintain their quality of life, then we explore other options.
