  • anyone still riding daily?

I've been heading to work each morn on the bike in the current low temps and see less and less bikes out on the highway. It's like it's already too cold for everyone.

Did about 450 miles just last week. This morn was freakin cold. Only problem I've found with the temps so far is I don't have winter gloves and so my hands freeze. Gonna just get me some glove liners. This week should be pretty nice for riding if the weather stays as they say it would. My car hasn't moved in over a week.
I've found that my I average about 36-38 combined mpg on the bike. A little better than the 24-26mpg in the car.

My car gets better gas mileage and the tires are cheaper. I still ride 100-150 miles per week though.

i wish. f4i has been sitting in the garage for 3 years now, probably going to sell it spring time. i'd like to get my old xl100 street legal since i only have a 4 mile commute, but have too many other things going on at the moment.

Why would I ride my bike in the cold when I have a nice comfy heated full size truck that gets 14mpg in neutral going downhill

I ride 6 miles to work. With winter gloves, a nice windshield, and my down insulated jacket preheated in the dryer the trip is very nice and comfy. Need to get a full face again but the ole ganster looking face mask works pretty well.

I've been thinking about getting some wind guards for my handlebars (like on a KLR) and figure that'll help TONS with the coldness on my hands.

I have just a Icon Superduty jacket that's like a polyester body and leather sleeves. I wear a hoody under it and it's fine. I also usually have a neck warmer to keep my neck warm and keep cold air from going into the top of the jacket or up into my helmet. When it's really cold out, I'll wear my balaclava which covers my head and face and neck.
As far as my legs, if it's really cold out I'll wear some flannel pajama pants under my jeans and then some windproof, waterproof pants over my jeans.
For shoes I have my Icon Superduty boots and they do just fine.
It's my gloves that suck for the cold, and my old ass helmet I'm wearing right now. My icon helmet's shield pivot broke, leaving me to wear an old HJC that's too loose. Right now it's either buy a new pivot kit for the scratched up Icon or get a new helmet, and I have my mind set on the RSD edition of the Bell Vortex, or maybe the Bell Star C-Note.
