  • Which LED headlights for chev

Got some time to work on my 87 chevy truck. 4 eye'd silverado with the 4x6" headlights. I was driving it the other night for the first time in a good while, and I noticed that its headlights have seen better days. 5 years ago I converted it to H4 bulbs from the old dangerously dim sealed beam junkers. It worked out well, but they're just chinese cheapies and the reflective chrome stuff is starting to flake off of the inside of the headlights.

So I figured I'd just go ahead and replace them. It looks like most of these modern LED 4x6" lights just use an H4 style connector anyway, so it shouldn't be any problem to pop those in there. But which ones? The prices vary pretty wildly. Its safe to say I won't be buying any of the $1600 sets. Anyone bought any before? If so how did you like them? Do you have a recommendation on a good set to go with that won't break the bank?

Don't put the HID bulbs in the headlight bucket intended for halogen bulbs. The focal length is different thus causing scatter beam and blinding other drivers.

I just bought some of the cheepo ones from Amazon for my Reeper, so far so good. They are way brighter than the factory lights and have held up to my off-road running.

Yeah but I'm referring to headlights that come as one unit. You don't really put the LEDs in there, they're already there. Something like this, but I was hoping someone had bought something like this and had a recommendation.

That is probably the least expensive set out there. At least that I could find. But something tells me getting the least expensive set probably isn't a good idea. Just like with my chrome flaking chinese H4 conversion.

I put one of the above lights in my drz, while it's better looking than the previous light the performance is negligible and the color is more blue or purple than I'd like. For $20 it was well worth the upgrade in looks but that's about it

I Like them but, probably do not have D.O.T. numbers.
At least you will be able to see at night.

If I still rode bikes, I would have some on the crash bars too.

Yeah it depends on which set you get. Some other designs do have dot numbers. Just not all.

Lots of vehicles have these 4x6" headlights. So... anybody else? Anyone else bought an LED headlight set for your stang, camaro, chevy truck, etc?

How about these? The lumens output would be good for headlights.
