Ok, so I'm getting married in October. We are trying to figure out where to go. Looking for 5-7 days and trying to stay under 5k. We want a beach location, adult only, and preferably all inclusive even though I don't drink. Do you guys have any suggestions? We are looking into the Excellence Resorts. I am wanting to go to Playa Mujeres but she is worried about crime in Mexico.

Only do Jamaica if you plan on staying on the resort. The country is a complete shit hole outside the gates of the resort(s)

A cruise most definitely, but won't be all inclusive...

          Norwegian or Royal Caribbean.

Most highly recommend Norwegian's staterooms in "The Haven"

For $5k you could fly to Maui and stay in the Waldorf Astoria for a week and still have $1k left for food/entertainment. Or fly to Honolulu and catch a cruise to all of the islands and have a lot of cash left over. That and you won't need a passport.

Hawaii for sure. Waldorf is a good idea. I would split my time between kihei and lahaina on maui.

Skip the all inclusive or cruise for a regular vacation.

LOL at your sig quote and you're getting married.

This site has changed - I can't believe the first 5 posts weren't death threats for getting married...

Congrats and good luck! I sadly haven't vacationed anywhere remotely exotic except Playa del Carmen and I can't really suggest it as my trips both sucked balls.

I am a fan of the cruise idea.

My preferences are Norwegian or Princess. Norwegian is going to be the more lively with better activities and cruise directors. The Princess Cruise Line is more relaxed with typically older passengers and less active cruise directors.

We did a Norwegian cruise (Jewel iirc). Get the romance suite in the back of the ship with the balcony. We did and it was the most relaxing cruise we have ever been on. 8 plus years later and I still remember the name of our personal butler on board. That woman worked her tail off and was always up, in a suit and ready to serve us no matter what time in the morning or night it was. We were on board over Christmas and remember her letting herself in on Christmas morning, greeting us while we were just waking up, opening the room to the balcony and bringing in breakfast. Fantastic woman.

For October, you are gonna get some good deals if the ships are in the Caribbean but beware of weather, hence the good deals. With a good room on a good cruise line bad weather isn't that big of a deal unless you absolutely can't have a good time without being in the pool.

Playa is always a good choice so is Cozumel. But beware of the season in October. Lots of bad weather down that time of the year.

Cancuun is always an easy choice but very commercialized. Playa and Cozumel are little quieter.

Great place. St John is a US Virgin island. Most of the island is a national park.. we love this place.

I agree with Hawaii. We spent 9 days on Kauai. It was awesome, but cost a bit more than $5k. We have been to each island and Kauai is our favorite. You can probably go there on your budget.

Thirded. I mean unless you like watching truck loads of guys with machine guns driving every where and they aren't all police/military.
