  • Got a new truck

Its been a while, good to see familiar names still on the board.

Just bought 2016 f150 with the 3.5 ecoboost. Heard good reviews here b4 on reliability.
Got a question, if I get a programmer put on, will they know one has been on it if u remove it before servicing? My guess is yes with all the technolgy on these things now days. Just want to confirm?

Really? I know people have put custom tunes that really pushed them to the limits an blew them up.

But I was thinking hypertech due to I have used them on manu trucks an they typically have safe tunes

I have a feeling the new computers have a way of knowing if programmers etc are put on them.

I believe he is referring to actually rolling the vehicle over and crushing the aluminum body.

But, I think the answer to your original question is probably "yes". If you have a warranty, you are taking a chance that it will be voided.

Yep. The truck market has been good to them.

I did not know a tuner would roll ur truck. Lol. Ok, i get what he is saying. I prefer not to roll them. Thought he meant roll the tune.

Confirmed, records boost, rpm, shft points. Will be a long while before I can get one

Why didn't you get a '17 3.5 ecoboost? They got the 10 speed auto and fixed the intake valve carbon build up issue by adding port injection along with direct injection.

If you care about your powertrain warranty, don't put a tune on it. Also, get a catch can on that thing ASAP. These ecoboost engines suck in a lot of crud through the pcv system.

Yes they can see evidence of the tune if they look hard enough, even if you flash back to stock.

F150Ecoboost.net is the best Ford F150 Ecoboost Forum with discussions on 2011+ F150 Ecoboost Trucks. Discuss performance mods, towing questions, wheels, tires, lift kits, and much more!

Do some research on tuners. MPT, Unleashed, LET and SSi are all popular. LET has gone downhill big time as far as customer service. He supposedly closed his shop recently and is tuning for other shops but I haven't verified that. SSI is popular on DFWM but any online searches will produce tons of negative press. I've got an Unleashed tune on my wife's Expedition and I love it. I'm building a motor for my truck right now and I'm not 100% certain who's going to tune it yet.

Yes, do not put a tuner on this truck if you care about warranty, they will know. I have a connection at a FORD dealer and that's the main reason I didn't do anything to my 5.0 until after the 60K powertrain warranty expired..

Believe me I wanted one. But they wont come off $11.000 off sticker on those. I did not want another house payment. Lol

Need to read up on what catch can u are referring to. Lost on that subject

I hear you man, these trucks are really expensive now days.

We had a 2013 F-150 3.5L Ecoboost drop by for a tune update, so we decided to drain the catch can for him while it was here. It's amazing a great these thing...

Get one on that truck asap. As far as what brand, I'm not sure because there are so many.

Also don't follow the Ford oil change interval computer. Don't go more than 4-5k miles on an oil change, these engines are very harsh on the oil due to fuel dilution from the direct injection.
