  • Bergara rifles

Does anyone have experience with Bergara rifles? I am in the market for a nice deer rifle this year, went poking around at cabelas earlier to see what what out there and the guy I spoke with recommended the Bergara. He said it is based off the remington 700, and that any part which fits the 700, will fit the Bergara. He said they are really known for their barrels, they are suppose to be excellent. The price point isnt too bad, at around $650 plus glass. Looking at the 6.5 creedmoor. thoughts opinions?

At that price I'd just buy a 700.

I haven't handled or shot one, but have heard good things about the Bergaras.
Last thing I'd do is take any suggestions from a gun counter guy at cabelas who's told to push products on buyers...

Personally, id look at other options and my reccomendation would be a Tikka T3x in 6.5 Creedmoor.

          A Tikka T3 in .243, 6.5C/.260, or 7mm-08 would be fantastic.

I would not be shocked to learn that they were made by someone other than Bergara

Oh sure I expected the whole sales guy stuff. They had a few there just not in the 6.5c caliber. It looks and felt like a very nicely put together gun. The hammer was very smooth and solid, the trigger felt better then any 700 they had there. I believe it is around a 3.5 lb pull on it with virtually no creep. Honestly the trigger was the nicest I have found in that price point. My neighbor has a gun store in McKinney, but mostly deals in pistols, I will most likely be purchasing from him but want to find the rifle I want first. I will check out the tikka models yall are mentioning. Is there much support for triggers and stocks?

Oh and what are the thoughts on Nikon scopes? I have the ar223 on my at and really like it. Checked out a few while I was at cabelas and they seem to have a really clear view.

When you feel the action and factory trigger on the tikka, I don't think you will be asking about aftermarket triggers. It's the best factory trigger I've felt as far as no creep, clean glass rod break, and user adjustable down to 2.5-3 lbs. but should you want to go lighter in pull there are a number of options from the big makers.

Decent selection of aftermarket stock as well, but again, I think their synthetic stocks are one of the best for rigidity but yet light weight on a factory rifle.

I was talking about the T3x Lite, Superlight, Hunter, etc models. Not the T3x CTR. The CTR is $1k, which I have and it's superb, but the lite models are around $500-$600. Quick search revealed they don't chamber the lite in 6.5 creed, but do have many other options like 7mm-08, 243, 25-06, etc.

My CTR is a dual purpose rifle, hunting and long(er) range target work.

Yeah I am pretty set on wanting the 6.5 creedmoor, everyone I have spoken to had nothing but great things to say about it.
