  • Lets talk about Sadaam

Former late dictator of Iraq. I'm not real familiar with the history of that country or its government/s. So I'm sure someone will have to fill me in here. But from the way it looks now (hindsight is 20/20), if you take a real objective view, it looks like he did nothing wrong and was undeserving of what happened to him. From a war perspective. Let me be clear about that. Obviously I wouldn't condone his barbarous methods towards his people (and other parties) but hey, this seems to be what they really do want so eh...

So you have the U.S (and apparently others but to a lesser degree) drilling into his oil fields, back before Desert Storm. After he warned them not to do it, that anyone who drilled into Iraqi land would be stealing from him and the country of Iraq. We then proceed to do it anyway. So he makes good on his threats, and devastates the oil fields.

So from a military standpoint, where exactly did he fuck up? Should he have just bombed the oilfields, but not ever actually invaded? Just flew over and burned it all, then went back home and said "Told you so"?. Or was that the "invasion"? Maybe he should have gotten out there and sucked up all the oil before anyone else could? I'm something of a history buff and this seems interesting to me since its more recent and isn't done to death like WW2.

No one drilled into any Iraqi fields. And the US only provides technical services over there. All of the oil belongs to the NOCs.

      Revisionist history BS is dangerous.

Al Gore's movie had a real impact on Sadam. He bombed the oil fields because he was concerned about global warming and he wanted to make the future a better place for his two lovely children.

Where did you "learn" this from? Did you make all that up? Because that's a pretty grotesque retelling of what actually happened:

Kuwait was economically hurting Iraq with excess oil production. Iraq decided that military action was justified, and invaded Kuwait.

A coalition of countries declared war on Iraq in retaliation. In their retreat, the Iraqi military set fire to Kuwait's oil fields to keep oil production there from being easily resumed.
When the government pays, the government controls.

Yea, I'm kind of curious where this info was sourced from.... because it is incorrect.

Libtard revisionist history. Any US company drilling in the mid east is there doing it under contract. The oil belongs to the nocs or a joint venture as specified under contract by the noc.
