  • Has anyone else "tuned out"?

Was having a discussion with the wife yesterday and she has noticed a distinct decrease on the "Give A Shit" meter regarding politics\society.

I thought about it, and I have to agree. At this point with the sheer amount and volume of right\left\race\gender\antifa\nfl\Trump noise I have subconsciously tuned it out.

My wife and friends will come up asking me "Have you heard about this?" and my response has turned into absolute indifference to the amount of stupid BS out there.

I have always been some sort of low level "prepper" with resources and plans in place if any number of large scale things go to shit.

I've decided that I'm going to focus on family and things that I can directly influence\change.

I see no reason to add\worry about the noise at this point.

Things will be what they will be, all you can do is be smart and take care of what matters to you I guess.....

I more or less tuned out before the election. The primaries got so stupid I said fuck it. I still watch world news once in a while and will tune in to hear some political stuff once or twice a week. I do pay close attention when something gets big like north korea and nukes lately, syria, keep up on isis stuff somewhat. But I am way more tuned out than 2 years ago.
I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.

Pretty much tuned out, I get some politics here on the board and of course it pops up all over, but I pay little attention. I will vote again in a little over 3 years, and vote in local elections as they come up, otherwise I no longer care to involve myself in all of it. I have seen it breaking apart families and friends and it is not worth it. People have become so locked in they cannot even consider that someone has an alternate point of view.

I wish we could go back to not discussing politics, religion and relationships as it was in the past. I blame Obama for making politics popular.

For the most part yes. It is unfortunate that my job keeps me from tuning it all out. MAybe that will change one day.

Yep, I've tuned it all out. I'll dip my toe in a little bit from time to time, but I quickly regret it. I'm just waiting for the big space rock to ding us, and hit the reset button. I'll be on the porch, drinking a cold one and taking it all in.

Same, I will look at a few things and then realize that was dumb. No point any more, especially with a deadlocked congress that are playing on the same side. Plus everyone gets butthurt about everything now I would rather just call them a dumbass in person.

In other words: don't read any news stories, look at Facebook, watch the Emmy's or NFL, and on and on and on....

Sort of, but Emmy's, Oscars Etc, who ever cared anyway. Facebook, just unfollow people who post political crap, only watch local news, so yes it really is not that hard to do without becoming a hermit. But I do agree with how ridiculous everyone has become on all sides it is nearly impossible to avoid it all. But that's where you truly just tune it out, I have become very good at looking through to the back of someones head and only hearing BlaBlaBla as the spew whatever their political convictions. If you don't engage they tend to shut up eventually.

I've tuned out for a while now. It's the same BS from the same people. I'd like to say I've boycotted football but I don't watch it anyway.

The only time I regret tuning out is when something major comes up in the news like N. Korea.

                            To an extent.

I read a lot. I read tons to see both sides of any issue. I avoid political discussion at this point pretty much entirely. I don't have the energy to logically explain my point for it to fall on deaf ears.

Have been for a few years now. No Facebook or the like, and I never watch the news unless there's a story I want to follow, which is very rare. It's all irrelevant.
