  • So...bumpfire stocks...

Thanks to crazy man in Vegas, most likely these things are going to get banned. Whenever members from both sides of the aisles and the NRA agree, that particular item goes bye bye.

Question 1: They are pushing for banning of use and posession. So if it passes, will we have to turn them in? Or would be get grandfathered and no new sales are allowed?

Question 2: I have one, brand new in box. Took it on a trade several years ago and couldn't even sell it for $50. Now I see them going for $350 on TGT, is someone really desperate enough to pay that price? I want to keep it, but if they are going to outright ban posession, I might as well sell it before it's illegal to own.

The good news is most people didn't know about them before the shooting, so items like the Fostech Echo should remain out of the spot light, as I would think that would be more deadly than a bump fire.

You can bump fire without anything special but doing so is kind of pointless unless you just like turning money into noise. I have balled up a t-shirt and used it to bump fire and a loose hold will do the something.

While I find the bump fire stock to be a useless I do not want to see them banned because it sets the president that a semi-auto that fires too quickly should be illegal.

I have owned several things that became illegal while I owned them and I still own them and have done so for 20 + years without any issues. You just can't be an idiot.

Personally I would sell the damn thing if I were you.

Gunbroker had some in the $560 range a couple days ago.

FosTech triggers will be interesting to see. They are still a single click of the finger, in either direction. The problem is the minute someone labels them as "binary" some nut will over react and say that it is dangerous. They may be right because if you forget to set the safety before letting the trigger reset, you get a round firing off. Requires extra trigger discipline. I think there will be a blanket mandate of "one pull, one bullet" and that will be the end of all of these gimmicks. Ironically, the gat crank could theoretically get past that unless they say "no gat cranks". The greater hope is that they don't go full retard and put and end to things like "no modifications to firearms period" type legislation which would just be a whole other world of shit. Hopefully, giving up bumpstocks won't be a gateway to that sort of crap.

Ya, all these gimmick things are generally not important to most of the gun community - however I do not think anyone is going to support banning them simply due to the principle of the matter.

I couldn't care less about the bumpstock itself. However, essentially they want to outlaw a device that lets a shooter shoot faster. That is moronic.

Imagine their reaction if you show them videos of Jerry M dumping his revolver into a target, reload, dumping again, reloading and dumping again in under a few seconds. Imagine their hate.

Next will be lightened springs in your slide of the Glock. Drop in triggers. Etc.

I am planning to buy an M16 lower now just because....and I better do it before the prices get beyond astronomical (where they are now).
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

Just curious but what are some of the things that have become illegal in the past 20 years that you still own? Oh and I agree with what you said about the bumpfire stocks. I fired a couple before and thought it was gimmicky at best and not something I would own.

Agreed. And any idea why the NRA is backing a ban on these? I haven't fully read any of the articles but it seems to go against the what the NRA has typically done in the past.

Honestly, I see this as a way for them to pacify the lefties demanding that "something" be done. I get the argument that if we let them take anything, it could be a gateway to letting them take more, BUT, I also think it will shut a lot of them up for a good while. If it's just a gimmicky device that true gun enthusiasts don't really value, then fuck it, joke's on them. Let them think they've scored some huge victory, and make sure to point this out to them for the next 10 years when they try to claim that we're all heartless and stubborn.

In a way, it's good that the focus from this shooting is on these bump stocks. They are the scapegoat. If he hadn't used them, they'd just be demanding some kind of limit as to how many guns you can have, yelling louder about banning "assault rifles", etc.

Agreed. At first I thought like others in this thread, but then I realized this is just the beginning.

There is no "happy medium" where the anti-gun sides go away, because they win one piece of legislation. Instead it gives them the power to try again, and again.

And OP, if you want to make a few bucks, i'll buy that slide-fire from you.

The NRA are sellouts that 'pick their battles". They often end up on the 'wrong' side of some of these issues. Ultimately they (the NRA) are just a business and are more concerned with their political relationships and career longevity than truly representing gun owners in the US.. This is the reason I am no longer an NRA member. Of course, that is just my conspiracy / tinfoil hat opinion.
