  • New .223 bolt gun

Decided to get, yet another, .223 but a bolt gun this time. Started with a 700 SPS Tactical 16.5" 1:9 .223 in a Hogue stock.

Swapped the stock for a Grayboe Renegade and installed a Hawkins DBM. Torqued the action down to 65in-lbs and checked for cycling.

I added a Silencerco ASR brake to mount my Specwar 762 suppressor.

Next up will be the optic. Picking up a Vortex HS-T 6-24x50, Seekin rings and base tomorrow.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

Just got a 223 myself only an ackley with a 7 twist barrel. Running 80gr bergers it's a blast to shoot. Going to run it in some club matches as a trainer.

Vortex 4-16×44 in Seekins medium rings and a 20moa base. I might get a pair of low rings and try them.

The scope isn't fully installed, just mocked up until I have more time.

Just needs a bipod, mount the scope and range time.

If you have problems finding an extra mag look for a ruger 223 scout mag. Steel mags made by accurate with a insert to hold 223. The ruger mags can be typically picked up cheaper than any other aics pattern 223 mag.

Good to know. These are Accurate Mags. I bought 2 5rd ones.

Stock, bottom metal, mags and ASR mount came from Alamo Precision. Easy in and out and decent prices.

Wow! I have thought about getting a bolt action .223 for a while now but I got ridiculed for it by some of my friends. What made you want to get one? I looked at the Remington as well, but maybe leaning towards the Ruger American. I also see that they are making the Ruger Precision Rifle in .223/5.56 now.

Cheaper to shoot was one factor. More fun to sit behind all day long than your bigger calibers was another.

Exactly the same reasons why I wanted one. Plus I'll add ammo commonality. I had a .308 Savage Tactical that I enjoyed shooting but it was more accurate rifle than the abilities I have. And I think for now .223 is more up my alley.

Got a new toy I'm picking up tomorrow that I need to pick up glass for.

                    I wouldn't mind doing one in a 7.62.

I did a chassis one in 6.5 creedmoor too. Scope for it is gonna cost me though.

I've had a FN PBR in .308 that was the same basically. 18" (iifrc) in a Hogue stock that was fun as hell and accurate beyond the shitty stock.
